Group accident insurance pays you for injuries, complications, and or death resulting from a named accident. These plans typically have a small deductible before they pay out. They are designed to cover costs of an unexpected event all the way up to loss of life and future earnings. Examples can be as simple as a child’s broken arm from a football game, to loss of life from a named accident.
Both group critical illness and accident insurance pay out in lump sum benefits. You can use that money anyway you like. For example, you could use it to pay for things like medical bills, or living expenses.
Payouts on Critical Illness plans tend to be anywhere from $5,000 all the way up to $500,000. Payment of $10,000 to $50,000 are most typical. Accident plan payouts tend to be anywhere from a few hundred dollars up to $75,000.
You can purchase Critical Illness Plans and Accident Plans on a group or individual/family basis. The group plans can be sponsored by the employer where they pay 50 to 100% of the plan for their employees or it can be purchased on a voluntary basis, where the employer contributes nothing.
